badge and sponsor issue: a few thoughts.

first of all,we all know that badges are the identities of all football teams in general,in the past years though we've seen them become more and more complicated as a design, while if we take a look on the early years of football, each team had a significant yet simple badge, more like an emblem, than a badge we could say.Trying not to be lost in the complexity of designs that are trying to mix a lot of different images in a single badge, like the celtic badge where the clover co-exists with the round celtic pattern and is filled with a lot of shadows and parallel lines,it may be better to simplify them and give teams their true identity back.Just the clover for example, the tipycal celtic clover.Or,let's say,try imagine a real madrid kit with just the crown on a white shirt.Chelsea with their lion lying on the chest.Of course not all teams have significant emblems on their badges but out of simplicity, let's imagine Boca Juniors with only the initials that are allready written on their badge or Bayern Munich with just a round piece of th typical bavarian blue-white pattern. It is-according to me-easier for the eye and more proud for the fan and the player to have on their chest let's say the raging bull of torino fc than the whole complicated badge with initials, lines, layers etc...Simplicity nowdays is obvious everywhere in the designing community, you can see lovely rebrands on behance or in various personal blogs of designers (visit for example the ''football badge design'' blog to see some lovely re-branding) but even in mobiles, houses, beverages etc everything becomes simplier but not more boring. This action could combine classic with modern as in football designing..

As a next thing, relevant with the previous subject,a lot of people nowdays see how a bad design of a sponsor,it's logo doesn't fit with the team's graphic approach, can ruin a good shirt.Others, like the amf movement in the UK (amf=against modern football)don't want sponsors on their teams kits, many say of the danger of a game to be more like a stock-exchange field than just a game and that is reflected on the kits allready (just see the Skandinavian,French or some South American teams' kits, you just can't see where the actual badge of the team is).
On the other hand, money is importand for the teams nowdays,no-one can deny this,so i had an idea.

Out of some ''smart'' kind of fiber,we know they exist,we can see them on fashion, even on training kits, brands that construct kits could make the kits in a way that could place the sponsor in but make it be visible-or more visible as the match goes on,inderacting with the player's sweat to give it a different tone of the shirt's main color.Below i have a Chievo verona kit,not much of a design but take a look on the simple badge that represents for sure only Chievo Verona and the optical approach of how a semi-sweated shirt could reveal the manufacturer and sponsors logo, without distracting the actuall appearance of a team's colors :

the fans will be happy to see their team's colors battling for victory and not a ''samsung'' or a ''fly emirates'' kit running up and down but, also sponsor brands can also be happy that the actual logos of theirs will be surprising emerging as the game goes on !

Just personal thoughts but maybe worthly to be said  :)

A WINNER !!!
